This is for the (still experimental) support for accessing remote backup devices, that is, devices of another machine. The way it works is very similar to the  rmt(8) demon. KBACKUP will call a remote shell and redirect the data to a MULTIBUF process running on the remote machine.

On the remote machine, at least MULTIBUF ,  dd(1) and the archive handler ( afio(1) or  tar(1) ) have to be installed. It is best, if you install the complete KBACKUP package on both machines to make sure everything is available.
